Gurgaon: Information about property tax with revised circle rates

It will come as a relief to the residents of Gurgaon that the administrative body, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has decided to extend the deadline to pay property tax from 31 December 2012 to 30 June 2013.

 

Ever since the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon was formed, residents living in self-occupied houses were not required to pay property tax till 2010. As this exemption was not applicable from 2010 onwards, residents of self occupied homes started receiving notices from the administrative body regarding their respective taxes. There was initially some confusion about the process of paying these dues.

 

Considering this, MCG has made provisions to pay taxes online by visiting MCG’s official website: www.mcg.gov.in. These taxes can also be paid at its citizen facility centre opposite Civil Hospital in Old Gurgaon.The due amount is payable via cash, cheque or demand draft. With the intention to make this process more efficient and user friendly, MCG has tied up with banks such as Oriental Bank of Commerce and plans to extend this tie up to nearly 20 banks within the city.

 

The collective rates effective from April 2012 for select locations are given as under:

In licensed colonies including DLF Phase I, DLF Phase IV, DLF Phase V, South City Phase 1 and Sushant Lok 1 the effective rates for residential property is 65,000 per sq. yard while those of commercial property is 135,000 per sq. yard.

 

In DLF Phase II, DLF Phase II – Rs 55,000 per sq. yard for residential property and Rs 1,35,000 for commercial property.

 

South City II, Sector 54 Sun City, Rosewood City and Garden Estate – Rs 50,000 per sq. yard for residential property and Rs 1,20,000 per sq. yard.

 

Malibu Towne, Uppal Southend, Mayfield Garden and Ardee City, Sushant Lok II, Sushant Lok III, Jalvayu Vihar, Palam Vihar, Vipul World (Sohna Road) and Vatika City (Sohna Road) – Rs 40,000 per sq. yard and Rs 90,000 per sq. yard. for commercial property.

 

Those owners who have rented out their respective properties will be required to pay 2.5% of the annual property value for residences and around 5% of the same for commercial property on lease.
