Gurgaon: Court removes a road block in favour of Dwarka Expressway

Recently, the Punjab and the Haryana High courts rejected the petition filed by an owner of a manufacturing unit of cosmetics whose land lay on the way of the proposed Dwarka Expressway.

The point of conflict was that although the petitioner had the necessary permission for setting up her manufacturing unit, the land in question was necessary for the realignment of the road from Dwarka to Kherki Dhaula on the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) or Dwarka Expressway. Moreover, the state authorities argued that the land in question was part of the notification which dated to March 2008 under Section 6 of the Act for the purpose of building the 150m road. Eventually, it had been released from acquisition. However, again it became the subject of acquisition.

In the interest of larger public interest, the decision was taken in favour of the authorities.
