Top 5 real estate deals in 2012

As per some reports, the Real Estate market did not fare as expected in the year 2012. However, some realty transactions made the year for real estate market quite lucrative. Some very expensive buys were made in the real estate sector in India in 2012. Five transactions which top the list are as follows:

  1. Sajjan Jindal paid nearly Rs 500 Cr for a sea facing bugalow on Napean Sea Road to the Maheshwari family.
  2. Sudhir and Samir Mehta of Torrent Pharma paid Rs 112 Cr for a 1,124 sq. yard bungalow in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. This is a record in itself for price per square yard amounts to nearly Rs 10 L.

  3. In Bangalore, Blackstone bought a 10 million sq. ft. of office space built by the Embassy Group for Rs 1000 Cr. 
  4. Kalpataru made a Rs 1250 Cr. deal to get possession of a 108 acres plot in Thane from Bayer Cropscience. This land will be used for a mixed use development project which is expected to be announced in 2013.
  5. Lodha Group bought the 17 acres National Textile mills land parcel from DLF for nearly Rs 2,725 Cr.
