National: Land Deals between Vadra and DLF unfair?

The statement made by social activist Arvind Kejriwal  that ‘the Haryana Government is DLF’s Agent’ seems to imply that the dealings between DLF, a realty giant in Gurgaon and Robert Vadra, Sonia Gandhi’s son in law, are unfair. Kejriwal alleges that Vadra bought property in Gurgaon below market rate and made huge profits. He seems to be sure that DLF sold property worth INR 35 crore to INR 5 crore to Vadra to gain political favours.

Post such allegations, the matter was brought to the notice of the implicated parties as well as the respective authorities. Both Vadra and DLF deny such allegations. However, Kejrival is insistant that a Special Investigations Team led by retired Supreme Court Judges be set up to investigate this case. This demand has been made after both DLF and the concerned government officials have denied allegations made by Kejriwal. On 20 October DLF spokerperson informed the press that the company did not receive any undue favours and that their dealings were transparent and fair.

Only time will tell whether this case will be probed into further. Whether statements made by Kejriwal will fissure away as a publicity gimmick or be considered seriously waits to be seen.
